12 days and counting!

Devin and Logan are now 12 days old and both doing well. Devin is over 5 lbs. and Logan is close to 4 lbs. We are hoping that Logan will be over 4 lbs. by our next appointment on Wednesday. Both boys are nursing well and growing more and more every day. Claire and I can already see differences in their personalities. These first two weeks of their lives have been truly amazing and their growth and development continue to surprise Claire and I. We would like to thank everyone for their support during the labor and these last two weeks and as I prepare to go back to work next week, we will need all the support we can get.

The long awaited arrival

Devin James was born at 7:17 in the morning and weighed 4 lbs. and 14.6 oz and Logan Terrence was born at 7:37 am and weighed 3 lbs. and 15.4 oz. Devin was 18 inches long and Logan was 16 inches long. Both boys were healthy and did not have to have any oxygen. They have mild jaundice but that was expected for premature babies. The labor was long and very hard on Claire. We checked into the hospital on Thursday afternoon and they were not born until Sunday morning. They had to induce labor due to high blood pressure and it took every induction method that they could think of. Claire was amazingly strong and I have never seen anyone endure so much and still have the strength to push two babies out. We are all starting to recover and it is good to be home, we were released from the hospital on Tuesday evening. I will add more later but here are some pictures to get started.

Predictions

Lita is at the 35 week mark which is a very good thing. She is working very hard at taking care of herself and the growing boys (4 lbs. as of March 3). Everything has been good and we are starting to get anxious. The preparations have been made in the boy's room and all we need now is two boys to fill the crib and start using some of the diapers. By request, there are some new pictures (even one of Lita from behind for Kat, she does not even look pregenant!!). We are also taking predictions now on the date. If you get it right you can baby-sit first (more of a reward for us but oh well, who is having the babies here). So far these are what we have

  • Grandma Mary Jo - March 28

  • Tio Sam - Lakers Suck (March 29) but Lakers still suck

  • Trish - March 21 (Full Moon)

  • Patrick - April 1

  • Grandma and Grandpa Riebsomer - Their birthday's of course, April 1 and 2 respectivley

Post your predictions so you can reap the benefit of our reward. We may even think of a better gift! If it helps, the 40 week due date would be April 15 but the doctor would be happy if she makes it to 38 due to multiples. Hope everyone is well!

Lita @ 32 Weeks

Well, Lita is moving along very well. We had a minor setback as Lita got the flu (like the rest of Santa Fe) and was stuck in bed for the last week. She is feeling better now and getting over the virus. The boys are moving around like crazy!! They have the hick-ups constantly and will just not stop moving. Just looking at her belly you can see them move and adjust fighting for room (getting a little crowded in there I guess). Here are some new photos of Lita and Apollo who could not pass up the opportunity to get involved. We had an appointment this week but they just took the heart rates of the boys and checked for things like muscle movement and did not measure the size. They did say that they boys should be growing about a half pound a week until birth. (PS - After admiring how beautiful Lita and her belly are, please also admire the awesome Jimi Hendrix light switch cover on the wall - Our own little Voodoo Children!)

Baby Shower

Yesterday was the official baby shower at the Santa Fe Bar and Grill. The ladies had a room to themselves to dine, play games and open gifts. The gentleman were also in attendance but had the pamper party in a different section of the restaurant (the Bar). We would like to thank everybody who attended and for those who were not there, we felt you all in spirit. If you would like to see more of the photos from the shower just let us know and we can send them. Just an interesting fact; the photo with Claire in the middle is a photo of Grandma McBean, Great-Grandma Fuller, Claire, Grandma Riebsomer and Great-Grandma Baker. Including the boys, 4 generations in one picture!

30 Week Appointment

Well we had another ultra-sound yesterday and things are looking great. The boys have grown to close to 3 lbs. each. Lita is in great health and the doc says she is moving along beautifully. They measured the heart rate of both and were pleased to find that both are showing healthy hearts and growing as is expected. All good news.

This is the beautiful Lita at 28 weeks. At this stage the boys estimated weight is 2 lbs. 6 oz. Not bad huh!
